About Power Parameters

We, at Power Parameters, are a thoroughly experienced team in the marketing, distribution, sales, service and calibration of a wide range of electrical and electronic test and measurement instruments and UPS systems. Our directors, management and key personnel own the business and have decades of commercial and technical experience. We are a financially sound organisation, properly capitalised for our current activities and well set up for future expansion.

Service is not an empty word for us; on the contrary it is the reason why we are in business today. Whether it is the installation of a 1000 kVA UPS system, calibration of an impedance relay test set, repair of a high bandwidth, storage oscilloscope, application advice on power quality measurement , or plain, old-fashioned courteous treatment of customers and suppliers, we have the right mindset and skills for the job.

Our vision is something we live by from day-to-day: to meet our obligations in full to our clients, employees and suppliers, and to grow our business by applying our expertise with enthusiasm

New Hioki clamp-on power logger

Friday, April 05, 2013

The new Hioki Model PW3360-20 clamp-on power logger is a highly compact, hand-held power line analyser suitable for single-phase and three-phase, three-wire and four-wire circuits with voltages to 780 volts. The Hioki Model PW3360-20 is ideal for service work in remote areas by virtue of its optional rechargeable battery pack. LAN connectivity provided by the http server function permits display on a PC of measured values and also set up of measurement conditions via free software available from Hioki. The instrument’s USB port allows direct connection to a PC, which then allows recognition of the internal memory and SD cards. A range of current clamps provides measurement to 5000 amps, and power measurement to 9 Megawatt. Leakage clamp transducers are available permitting simultaneous measurement of up to three, single-phase circuits. Measurement parameters include voltage, current, frequency, power, apparent power, reactive power and power factor, as well as integrated demand. Data storage is via SD memory card allowing retention of several months’ data. Operation of the Hioki Model PW3360-20 is particularly intuitive, the operator being guided through the set-up by means of sample-schematics indicating the correct way of connecting current clamps and voltage connection leads, and screen-displayed, life-like, illustrated connectors to be used. In addition the operator is guided by short text messages indicating the measurement sequence to be followed.   ... read more

Lamp testing is a smart idea. Power Parameter’s new HDT Model 7100 Lamp Tester is the ideal solution

Friday, April 05, 2013

By: Aubrey Bartholomeusz, field service instruments, Power Parameters Pty Ltd

Electricians carry a heavy load—it’s a trade with a lot of responsibility for the safe performance of new and refurbished installations—and these days there are even more tools and testers to carry around.  So in addition to clamp-on testers, insulation testers, phase rotation testers, etc suggesting yet another piece of equipment to carry around doesn’t seem a great idea.  ... read more

SEW high voltage detector is non-contact

The new SEW model 277 HP is a non-contact high voltage detector suitable for voltages from 50 volts to 132 kV via two operating ranges, 50 to 1500 volts, and 1500 volts to 132 kV, selectable by means of range buttons.  The principle of operation is based on capacitive voltage detection of AC voltage and the presence of voltage is indicated by means of blue LEDs, positioned next to the instrument’s handle, which is fitted with a sunrise connector suitable for attaching to a hot stick.  Two hot stick models are available for use with the SEW 277HP non-contact high voltage detector. The SEW HS-175 telescopic hot stick provides for insulation safety at 100 kV per 30 cms length (5 minutes), and is available with up to 9 sections providing a total reach length of 12.09 metres. A disconnection hook is provided as standard, as is a universal sunrise head.  ... read more

Hioki flexible clamp-on sensor (Rogowski coil)

The new Hioki CT9667 flexible clamp-on sensor (Rogowski coil) has important new features including a very secure and easy-to-lock closing mechanism, thus making the Hioki clamp-on sensor very easy to loop around conductors even in very confined conditions. The Hioki CT9667 has a clamping diameter of 254 mm and a rated current capacity of to 5000 amps (maximum allowable current 10,000 amps). The Hioki CT9667 has a bandwidth stretching to 20 kHz, and excellent phase accuracy of ±1° (at 45 to 66 Hz). The clamp-on sensor is battery powered and can operate continuously for 7 days. Maximum rated voltage to earth is 1000V ACrms (CAT III), 600V ACrms (CAT IV). The Hioki CT9667 is suitable for use with Hioki power quality analysers, power testers and memory recorders.  ... read more
